In an obvious attempt to compete with IE Google is pushing Chrome more than ever before by putting it on their home page. This move is a significant step up from the Youtube advertisements and is a significant move be Google themselves who tend to be VERY strict on what goes on their home page.
It’s interesting to note though that they advertise Chrome as a faster way to browse the web, not a browser. An interesting approach that could confuse most users who don’t even know that Internet Explorer is actually a browser.

It should be exciting to see what implications this will have and how this placement will affect future numbers in the hot browser market.
