Labortopia: The Simple Search For Getting Work Done

Need someone to help move your furniture into your new house? What about a web designer to make your new website? Kevin Dones, the Founder and CEO of Labortopia, thought that finding local people in the city of Massacheutts that provide these sorts of service was too hard. So he decided to create Labortopia.

Labortopia is a simple search engine to find people that are willing to offer their services: web design, furniture moving, etc, for a price. It allows you to first search for a general job, like a carpenter, and then later refine your search based on area, language, price, and rating.

According to Kevin, the idea behind Labortopia was that he wanted to create a very simple way to find people providing the services someone would need, and then have an easy way to contact them. This seems similar to a Craigslist style service, but instead of giving out your phone number, Kevin has built in a messaging system that interested parties can contact each other with.

Labortopia has gotten around 500 people signed up and willing to provide services, which is a fairly good number considering it only launched 3 months ago. Kevin says that he is planning on expanding the service to feature the L.A. area next, and then more locations will follow. He also plans on putting in a system that allows for SMS notifications for when you get a message from somebody.
