People Are Too Cheap – Content Has Value

By Alex Wilhelm on May 8, 2009

I really hate to say this, but content has value. Value that people on the internet find useful. Information has a inherent value to anyone who needs those specific datums. If you need it, you have to pay for it in some way. There is no free lunch, we all know it. Right now you pay for it by viewing ads, or at least some of  us do. Ad blocker to me has always been a bit black hat in my eyes, you are taking someones resources, and removing their ability to recoup that expense. That is simple theft.

Murdoch has been talking loudly about people paying for content. Users have been bitching just as much in return. I just do not get how people can assume that they deserve to get everything for free.

Has ThePirateBay spoiled us?
