Everywhere I go on Youtube I see that little HD button just popping up everywhere. Fascinating, I can watch videos in HD. Still, I haven’t until today, found a viable site that lets me download Youtube HD videos. I mean ya, I can download the grainy Youtube videos, but why do that when they are available in High Definition.
Well, KeepHD has solved my dilemma. It’s actually pretty darn simple, all you have to do is copy the video URL of an HD video and paste it in the box. From there, KeepHD will automatically pull the HD video and let you download it. KeepHD will also provide you with various other formats such as the FLV file, 3gp and MP4 file. The downloader is also portable, you can embed the KeepHD downloader on any site.
KeepHD also has one other nifty little feature. You can direct download a video by simply replacing the the youtube.com part of a video url with keepHD.com as shown to the left. While the feature is conveneint, it seems to be a crap shoot as to if the feature will work or not. I tested the feature ten times and it only worked twice, a nuisance if anything.
KeepHD is a pretty nifty little web app to keep on hand to fulfill your Youtube download cravings. Keep in mind, Youtube has been cracking down on services that allow these downloads and the service can go down at anytime. For now, enjoy KeepHD while you have it.
