Whenver you think of recent success on the internet, most especially in the Web 2.0 world, websites like Digg come to mind. But when you want to think up sites that actually has revenue, you probably should start thinking about sites that actually sell something. Guess what, iStockPhoto is going to do 200 million in revenue this year. I bet the founders feel pretty lame after selling the company for a mere 50 million back when they had a mere slice of their current revenue.
iStock, now a part of Getty images of course has endless competition, most especially from Fotolia. But, given its simple pricing, simple website, dedicated userbase, and excellent database of content, there seems little that could derail them in the coming year. For any content producer, the iStock method of licensing content works. Fair pricing for excellent content. No royalties, etc. This is the future. iStock is showing the way forward, and making healthy money at the same time.
