It may be as incestuous as getting hitched with your couison in the South, but two YCombinator “companies” have become one, with the popular Posterous consuming the less popular Slinkset. Slinkset, for everyone who does not know, or just everyone, allows people to build their own small social news websites. We almost used them to build one for TechGeist. They never recived funding past their initial round, according to CrunchBase, but Posterous did. We assume that some of that money was in play, as was (most likely) helpings of Posterous stock.
Of course, this really only means that SlinkSet was not hitting its revenue numbers, and was in a pile of shit. That aside, both companies do stand a chance as a unit. Posterous of course is the simplest blogging platform on the internet, add in the power of the social system of Slinkset and you may have something. Who knows? In this economy, maybe joining is the only way not to sink. Details of the deal were not disclosed.
