Vodafone To Sell In-Home Mobile Signal Booster

By Michael Klurfeld on June 24, 2009

vodafone_femtocell-480x378Vodafone, that big ol’ British mobile phone service provider, is set to start selling a product that will make it so you always have full bars at home. This Access Gateway will route calls made on phones registered to use the service over a broadband connection, thus bypassing the potentially shoddy service that one would normally have in one’s abode for whatever reason (bad local network, strange building contruction, and so on). The device will initial cost a somewhat pricy £160, but the monthly rate seems as if it will be low at £5 a month.

The pricing information given seems incomplete, though that £5 a month fee should allow users to have unlimited service in their homes. The whole point of any signal booster is that it not only gives better service for the user, but it works to take load off of the typically unstable cell networks that providers have. It would be a major slap in the face to charge users an extra monthly fee without allowing users unlimited access on their in-home networks.
