Strangely enough, the "books in the public domain" area is served very well by sites like Feedbooks.com and Project Gutenberg. My guess is Amazon doesn't want public knowledge on these sites to improve to the point that their utility overshadows Amazon's. Welp, fortunately I’ve already gotten an E-book reader, so this doesn’t really concern me, but it DOES solidify my conviction that I made the right choice even further.
