I'm 2,000 Dollars
There are a lot of concerns about Google Earth and how you can access so much data at the click of a button. Google has always been at the forefront of pushing privacy into new territories never explored before and more problems have arisen.
According to Technology.am, Google Earth is now being used as a tool by thieves to steal expensive koi carp. After doing a bit of research on the web there seems to be a hefty price that goes along with a well-grade koi carp, ranging from 400-2000 dollars. This is a potential gold mine if you can even get a few well grade koi carp for free and sell them. Previous to Google Earth though, such acts like these were few and far between because discovering which homes had well-grade koi fish was a crap shoot. Now the tools that Google provide for free are becoming the weapon in the situation.
Incidents like these are what puts a shameful light upon the great potential of Google Earth. You can be sure this will be used as an argument for privacy nutters across the globe. Still, to know such tools exist to make a criminals job that much easier must be a slap in the face to these homeowners. While I am sure the koi owners did not suffer physically and based on the price of these koi carp, not financially, but it is still a violation of ones privacy. A home is considered some place secure. Having that security broken is scary at best.
Let’s hope these acts of criminalization tamper down, Google Earth is a good thing, no need for anyone to muck that up.
