iPhail Cases Causing Discoloration

By Alex Wilhelm on July 10, 2009

Just don’t blame Apple, ever. They never make a mistake. And for once, its actually true! Turns out that if you wrap your lil’ iPhone in a beefy protective phone condom [case] it can get to hot! Shockingly, wearing a jacket makes you warmer! For the legions of tools out their confused, dazed, and discouldered, read this:

  • After numerous calls to Apple technical service and maintenance of contact with a level 3 (engineer) the problem seems to come not from a hot 3GS but contact with some covers! This was evident by ourselves on a device with a small sticker (a warning not to listen to music too loud) remained stuck, part of the hull below remained white.
  • A simple solution to the problem is to clean the back of the iPhone with alcohol, tested by myself I can confirm that it works and reassure you it is safe for your precious.
Case closed, unless Apple is up to their knickers in hot water and this is just some spin to get them out of the whole. That might be true, Apple is deeply invested in this phone, any brand wide problems on the platform could be extremly troublesome, especially with worthy competitor Pre on the loose. The prowl, more alike. Well, if you have an iPhone 3GS, let us know if this works.
