Reading the copy from beta, alpha, and release candidate software always turns up gems. It turns out, that buried in the Windows 7 legal documentation, there is a very detailed discussion of “Family Pack” versions of Win7. Finally, Microsoft, you figured out that families have more than on PC. Of course, it seems that standard rules apply. The captured screenshot is below, via the great Ed Bott at ZDnet:

While we are still unsure of the pricing for this, or even if it will eventually become a reality, but this proves that MSFT is at least thinking in the right direction, which is progress enough to make myself (Windows fanboy) keep fighting the good fight.
After the European pricing kerfuffle, it would be a nice ray of light if Microsoft priced this fairly, perhaps even in-line with the offerings from Apple. How better to attack OSX with pricing and a vastly upgraded OS?
