Although not live, and not ready, and not really tested, the upcoming online version of Microsoft Office is going to be coming on strong. Showing dedication to the free, lightweight, browser based version of MS Office that will be coming, Microsoft just purchased Office.com
Not that this should be a surprise, given Microsoft’s deep pockets and generally purchase friendly ways, but it does mean a multi-million dollar cash out for someone, and a perfect new home for Office Online.
Robin Wauters, who used to work for ContactOffice, the company that used to operate at Office.com, says that the company did in fact not own the domain, but merely used it. I assure you that there is an individual on his way to the local Ferrari dealership right now, beaming with pockets full of Microsoft money.
