Well well well, it would appear that media darling Twitter is so damned international these days, that in fact they are claiming that their number one city is not LA, not San Jose, New York, Chicago, Portland, or Podunk, but London. You read it right, the land of bad food, great beer, and Winston Churchill is home to the worlds top Tweeting city.
The impertinance. Furthermore, this comes from the very mouth of the CEO of Twitter, @Ev. On an interview with the BBC he made the vile assertion. He had such great and witty responses as [as transcribed via TechCruch]:
Is Twitter a fad? “It’s only a fad if someone comes along and does it better,”
Not exactly Hemingway, but a valid point. Chalk it up to Twitter though, to avoid that for as long as they can by keeping their API as open as they can. That alone will fight of a competitor for months.
