Apple Tablet Becomes More Tangible With Part Shipments

By Michael Klurfeld on September 15, 2009

apple_tabletThere is some new (speculative) info out about Apple’s long-rumored tablet device. According to reports, those old rumors that Apple had ordered a tone of ten-inch touchscreens is dead. Instead, the latest deliveries are of 9.6″ screens made by Wintek. The device will have GSM data support, and HSPDA at that, so it looks like Apple will be going with AT&T again for data power. There are other things listed, but the most notable of them is that the device is now expected to launch in February.

At this point, we’re all but certain that the Apple tablet (the iTab, maybe) is on its way to the markets. After all, Steve Jobs basically said that he wanted in on the whole e-book market. Apple already has the back end in place with the iTunes store to support books, plus they’ve worked out how the store should work on a smaller form, mobile device. The rumors sound good to me.
