We are pretty damn far into TV on the web, claim Clicker, but where is the damn content guide? Clicker is going to change that, or at least they claim it. Clicker is the best at finding the best of the web, the fastest, all inside of one platform, without extra work to get the videos that you need.
They even claim to search Google Video, better than Google. Startup? More like an upstart.
Still, the demo is compelling, if you want to watch a video, they do seem to find it much more quickly than anyone else. Looking for an episode of Seinfeld online? There are only 7, according to Clicker, and they have all of them. Clicker also has a function called “playlists” which is their “DVR.” It allows you to line up content for future viewing, but given that all of the content is saved online, there seems to be no need to actually queue, or precash anything.
Also, to ensure that the best content is always there, and that the system is up to date, users can add other content links to ensure that nothing is missed, letting you slake your soap-opera fetsih at any time of the day, from your PC at work. Really, do you actually work at work?
The secret sauce of the whole network is their “structured database” which has thousands of videos over a thousand categories. They have a deal with Boxee, and are launching into private beta today. Head over to Clicker and try and get in.
