As cool as the HTC Hero and the Sense UI are, a lot of early adopters complained that Sense made the phone far more sluggish than anyone really wanted. Well, that issue is now dead as the new Sense UI has been released! I suggest watching the video, as the whole thing is pretty darn slick. Gizmodo points out that before Hero is widely available here in the US on Sprint, Sense is going to be working just fine.
This is good news for HTC as Sense looks like it might become what is essentially the HTC Android platform. The cool thing about Android is that apps run on all Android devices, yet hardware makers can still develop their own interfaces to put an extra spin on Android beyond the hardware level.
The other interesting addition is a Java application in the device menu. Java support could put Android more firmly into the realm of business. A whole lot of financial software requires Java support, which means that we could see a lot of mobile apps for business programs in the Market Place in the near future.
