LocalBacon – A Simpler Way to Find Jobs #tc50

By Alex Wilhelm on September 14, 2009

We have all been there: posting a job on Craigslist, and then watching the worlds worst applicants apply for the job. We all hate this. LocalBacon is a new system that  forces people to pay at least a dollar to apply for a job. When you want to apply for a job on LocalBacon, you pay a small fee. This cuts the chaff and saves you time.

People are even willing to pay, it turns out. In a company survey a surprisingly large number of are willing to pay anything from $1 and up! People were even willing to pay over $9. I am in shock, but then again, this economy. LocalBacon then tracks when an application is viewed, and reports the actions to both parties.

Turn the job boards upside down, that is LocalBacon. While it may not reinvent the wheel completely, it certainly does sand it down and refine it a bit. The panelists mostly seem to like the ideas.
