Pulse Android Handset Is Pay-As-You-Go, Cheap Data Smartphone

By Michael Klurfeld on September 3, 2009

The Android Pulse by Huawei is T-Mobile's third Android handsetThe Pulse handset is on its way to T-Mobile UK, and with it will come a pay-as-you-go option. The handset itself runs Android 1.5, making the Pulse the first Android handset on any carrier with a pay-as-you-go option (that I know of, anyway). It’s also the first Android phone built by Huawei The handset it self will cost £180 and will feature the normal slew of features. One cool addition is auto-rotate, which means that the Pulse probably has some sort of accelerometer in it a la the iPhone.

The interesting thing about pay-as-you-go in the smartphone game is how providers handle data. T-Mobile promises to be very fair to its UK customers in that regard. Unlimited data on the Pulse will be available for a mere £5 per month, which is $8.17. That’s crazy! I’ll drop any phone I have for that, especially as you can tether any Android phone with the right application. Of course, wireless providers hate people and eat puppies here in the states, so I doubt our rates will look as good.
