Toyota Auris Hybrid Advance, tested (III): Price, conclusions and rivals
We reached the third and final part of our test Toyota Auris Hybrid for a general balance of the main advantages and disadvantages of the car as well as a short analysis of customer who would be the type of this car as our view. We will also check the price of this unit potential rivals and see what we could find on the market.
From what we have seen in the two previous installments, the Auris Hybrid Toyota has developed its line in a very positive way, moving from a rather nondescript to a much more dynamic and strong, especially in the frontal image. The interior has also evolved to offer a more modern and futuristic part, with numerous details that show that this is a hybrid car, without neglecting quality. In short, the car is more car (Forgive the redundancy) before, and that the previous Auris was not bad product.
Its hybrid mechanics is the most exclusive of this car, because it is the only generalist compact market that can be hybrid. Its consumption in town are unbeatable, with lower figures to 3.8 l / 100 km if not circulate Saco on the streets. On open roads and highways, the Toyota Auris loses its clear advantage, but still offers some consumption of less than 5 l / 100 km, which it is still surprising for a compact 136 hp although they are far from consumption tab.
As we see in the photographs, the unit courtesy of Toyota Spain is loaded with equipment chock. Advance is linked to the finish, which is the most complete of those who can select, but also has all the extras that can be assembled at the factory. Let's look at the main elements of equipment includes:
- 17 inch wheels
- LED daytime running lights
- Access and keyless start
- seven airbags
- Stability control
- Cruise control
- Automatic lights and wipers
- Parking sensors front and rear
- rear camera parking aid
- Touch screen
In addition to these standard features, including leads the following equipment packages:
- Pack SkyView (800 €) includes the tinted rear windows and the panoramic sunroof that covers the entire interior including the rear seats
- Luxury Pack (1600 €) adds the browser Toyota Touch Go +, handling voice of the main commands of the Infotainment system and leather upholstery with heated seats
The list price of this unit as they see is € 27,900 including 2,400 additional € of the two extra packages, but now the brand has a discount of 2,300 € to which the final rate would remain at 25,600 €. Surely it is a good pick for a general compact 136 hp, but we must point having mounted excellent equipment and more expensive hybrid mechanical a traditional internal combustion engine, as well as offering excellent fuel consumption in city.
Therefore, this car from my point of view is focused someone who will perform much of their city kilometers, since it is the way the fastest pays premium over other rivals. Roadside their consumption are also very good, but are directly comparable to those of any modern diesel compact medium power. Precisely this is where we will try to find a rival to overshadow our Toyota Auris Hybrid Advance.
We will focus on the latest products, Newcomers to the market as the Auris, and based on the fact that urban consumption of Auris Hybrid is unbeatable. And the first opponent we find him at home, since the Toyota Auris diesel 120 hp is a very serious alternative the hybrid version. The Auris 120D Advance of € 21,750, has an almost identical equipment and has very close consumption, particularly in road (5.3 l / 100 km city, 3.8 and 4.3 in extraurbano mixed). In fact, for someone using the car on expressways I recommend before cheaper diesel version, and lower fuel costs.
Let us now consider the Seat Leon, landing on the market almost simultaneously with very good attributes. He Seat Leon 1.4 TSI 140 hp It has approved an average consumption of 5.2 l / 100 km, but this road consumption and Toyota Auris Hybrid can become very similar. Priced at € 20,870 at its highest finish, it is a very tough rival. The diesel 105 and 150 hp versions with the top finish Style cost € 21,900 and 23,250 respectively.
As demonstrated in the Toyota Auris announcement, its new compact has been created to shade the Volkswagen Golf. The compact market benchmark landed last year with a completely new generation, while maintaining the attributes that have always characterized. Golf finish a top finish Advance and five-door body is priced at 23,870 euros for petrol 1.4 TSI 140 hp engine, while diesel prices with the same finish are of 24,765 euros for the 2.0 TDI 150 hp and 23,065 euros for the 1.6 TDI 105 hp.
The renewed Opel Astra is one of the most fit models that could rival the Toyota Auris like. Based on the superior finish Excellence, Astra 1.4 Turbo engine with 140 hp is priced at 19,671 euros, while the 130 hp 1.7 CDTI worth 20,654 euros. The new Honda Civic is another interesting alternative; finish in the top Executive is priced at 21,300 euros for the 1.8 petrol engine 140 hp and 25,500 euros for the 2.2 diesel 150 hp.
As we see, none of these rivals have figures for consumption or engine configuration comparable to the Toyota Auris Hybrid Advance, but in any case they can be considered very alternative to consider, especially if we will not make too many kilometers city. Obviously, the compact market is much broader and There are several interesting options such as the Renault Megane, the Citroën C4 or Mazda3, but we have chosen to show you the new market entrants like the Auris.
Special mention deserves the Toyota Prius, the hybrid par excellence with which the Auris shares mechanics. The starting price of this model is 23,300 euros, but can reach up to 30,000 euros. Taking into account that the Auris has better interior quality, it is cheaper and your line I find most appealing, highly recommend purchasing the Auris Hybrid before the Prius.
Ultimately, the Toyota Auris Hybrid reaches the market to remain the only hybrid compact available, with all that this entails. Its consumption in town are unbeatable and its operation in electric mode at low speeds is very nice, but instead its price is generally higher than that of a car internal combustion engine equivalent and its management on expressways is not the best, at least for my taste.
Points in favor:
- very direct steering, ideal for city and park
- Very quiet operation in electric mode and smoothness to start the gasoline engine
- It combines the benefits of a hybrid space and a compact line
- high price of the version tested
- Rumorosidad at speeds above 70-80 km / h
- Bad engine response when asked fuerter accelerations due mainly to cambi CVT
